Webinar Series: Unleashing the power of mentoring dialogues with the Productive Postdoc Conversations
Mentoring relationships impact early-career researchers’ self-efficacy, sense of belonging, and ability to make informed career decisions. At the heart of mentoring relationships are mentoring conversations, whose characteristics are affected by differences in mentor/mentee expectations and values, as well as hesitancies associated with raising and discussing specific topics.
In this webinar, Dr. Bénédicte (Béné) Gnangnon, postdoctoral associate in Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs at Boston University, will provide a brief overview of the literature on mentoring and mentoring dialogues, the conditions for productive mentoring conversations, and the impact of inclusive mentoring practices on individuals and institutional culture. We will also introduce the evidence-based Productive Postdoc Conversation toolkits, which have been developed to foster mentee-led dialogues and promote inclusive mentoring practices for postdoctoral scholars across fields.
By the end of this webinar, participants should be able to:
Define mentoring,
Describe the conditions for mentoring to positively impact individuals and organizations,
Discuss a model for collaborative mentoring conversations,
Implement/use the Productive Postdoc Conversation toolkits at their home institutions.
