Stevie Eberle, M.Ed. is Assistant Dean and Executive Director of the BioSci Careers community at Stanford University. They began their tenure in 2008, developing curriculum and resources for all biosciences trainees to explore and define a path toward their own careers of choice. Prior to that, Stevie was part of Stanford’s central campus Career Development Center (now BEAM), counseling and developing career development programs for graduate students and postdocs from various disciplines across campus. They have written on passion and on managing career advice overload for Inside Higher Education; co-written textbook chapters; taught multiple, immersive, sector-specific courses; and consulted on diversity issues at international/national companies and organizations. Currently, Stevie sits on the DEIB strategic planning committee within Stanford’s Human Resources department, and they manage “An Evening of Queer Joy “for LGBTQIA individuals and their allies within Stanford and its surrounding community.
In a consulting capacity, Stevie specializes in creating meaningful workplace cultures; decentering heteronormativity, and privilege in leadership; and assisting new C-level executives define their leadership styles. Stevie began this work teaching assertiveness and empowered conversation styles within Higher Education, nonprofit, and biotech/tech environments. They created an original assertiveness assessment.
They were faculty for the University of San Francisco’s Marriage and Family Counseling program and served as Chair of the National Postdoctoral Association’s Board of Directors. Stevie holds an M.Ed. in Community Agency Counseling, and a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology, both from Ohio University. Within their graduate training, they worked in Thailand, observing support systems for sex workers. Stevie combines these experiences with 30 years of yoga and fitness training practice to help others find and follow their path to holistic wellness and joy.
